Just a point of clarification. Slide film could be processed in two hours in the old days. There were competing labs and you could choose where to process by what kind of film you'd shot. It was for pros with deadlines and need of depth of color. It was less forgiving in the lab than 35 mm film which was for everyone, amateurs included, because it was cheap and had a bigger stop range than slide film which often needed artificial light.
