Lucy Gray has written for Interview, Elle, Brick, Alta, and American Theater Magazine. Her photographs have been in The New York Times, Mother Jones, Time’s Lightbox, New York Magazine’s The Cut. Her award winning book, Balancing Acts: Three Prima Ballerinas Becoming Mothers, 2015 Princeton Architectural Press, is in the collection at the de Young Museum and her artist’s rendition of Nathanael West’s The Day of the Locust, 2013, Arion Press, is in special collections at The Getty Museum in Los Angeles and the Legion of Honor Museum in San Francisco. Her series Central Valley Foreclosure, 2011, published in Mother Jones Magazine, is collected in the Berkeley Art Museum. Her series Being Blue won the Art Prize for 2021 at Ambit Magazine in London. In May 2022-2025 she has an exhibition of photographs from Balancing Acts at the Embassy in Warsaw, Poland.
